You hear it coming before you see it and boy does it have a distinctive sound. The unmistakable rumble of a Subaru flat four ‘boxer’ engine is sure to grab attention whether you’re at a car show or cruising around town. So it all comes down to headers...

The header cylinders in a beefy WRX STI are set at different lengths. With cylinders 1 and 3 being slightly different in length to 2 and 4 any sound has to move in an unconventional manner through the exhaust and produces the unique rumble.
