Yes, you read that right! Audi and BMW drivers have somehow escaped the tag of the UK’s worst drivers according to a recent survey by automotive retailer Peter Vardy.
A study of 2,000 motorists found that 44.6% of Ford drivers had penalty points on their licence, the highest percentage total of any vehicle manufacturer.
It’s clear that those surveyed thought highly of their own driving abilities with Ford drivers rating themselves an average of 7.3 out of 10 for driving ability, versus an average of 6 for the skills of other drivers.
In fact, this preferential treatment occurred for every manufacturer, except Smart owners. They rated themselves and other drivers the same average score of 6.3 out of 10.

Suzuki and Volvo owners were awarded the title of the best UK drivers with 75% of those surveyed not having any points on their licence.
BMW drivers didn’t escape scot free though as they were found to be most likely to speed and drive recklessly.
The survey found men to be more confident of their driving prowess, scoring themselves on average 7.25 out of 10. Women however were less confident resulting in an average of 5.87.

The best-behaved drivers in the UK were our friends north of the border with Edinburgh and Glasgow coming out tops. Drivers using roads in Sheffield were deemed the worst behaved of UK drivers.
